2 1/4 cups flour
3/4 cup sugar
2/3 cup butter, softened
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
3/4 cup evaporated milk
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 egg
1 tsp almond extract
1 can cherry pie filling
1/3 cup sliced almonds

Directions:
Directions:
Combine flour and sugar in a large bowl; cut in butter til crumbly. Set aside 1/2 cup of this mixture. Add baking powder and soda to remaining flour mixture. Combine evaporated milk and lemon juice. Stir well and leave 5 minutes til thickened. Add egg and extract, mix well. Add dry ingredients, stir just til moistened. Spread 2/3 of batter over bottom and about 1" up side of greased 9" springform pan. Spread pie filling in shell. Drop spoonfuls of remaining batter over pie filling. Stir almonds into reserved crumb mixture and sprinkle over cake. Bake at 350º for 50 to 55 minutes
