1 c. sugar
1 c. dark corn syrup
1 T. vinegar
1 T. baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
In a saucepan, combine the sugar, syrup and vinegar. Using a candy thermometer, cook until it reaches 300º at sea level.

Remove from the heat and quickly add the baking soda and mix well.

Pour into a greased 9X9 pan.

Cool and then crack into pieces.

Edith Ahlers used to make this candy as a child in the colder months near Christmas.

Adjust the temperature for elevation by reducing 2 degrees for each 1000 feet of elevation. For Conifer, Colorado cook to 284 degrees.
