2 c. sugar
1 c. light corn syrup
1/2 c. water
1/2 tsp. flavored oil (anise, root beer, lemon etc)
several drops of food coloring

Directions:
Directions:
In a pan, bring the water, corn syrup and sugar to a boil making sure the sugar is fully dissolved. Using a candy thermometer, boil until the temperature reaches the hard crack stage (285º).

Remove the pan from the heat and add the flavoring and food coloring (anise & red, lemon & yellow, root beer and red & blue etc).

Pour the hot syrup into prepared pan. Allow the candy to cool just enough to score the top with a knife so it will be easy to break into pieces when cool.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
To adjust the candy thermometer temperature for elevation, decrease the temperature 2 degrees for each 1000 feet of elevation.
