Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 sticks butter
1 c brown sugar
Sleeve of saltine cracker(I use regular, about 35 or so, must be the ones with salt, no salt is too bland)
1 12 oz. package dark or milk chocolate chips(again, I use dark but also good with Tollhouse chips or dark 70% bars, broken.)
1/2 to 1 c. Crushed pecans or any other nut you like* optional

Boil butter and brown sugar for 3 minutes
Line a cookie sheet with sides with foil or parchment paper, rub with butter or butter spray and place a layer of saltine crackers on pan.
Pour melted butter/brown sugar over crackers and bake at 400ºF for 4-6 minutes.
Remove from oven and pour on a package of your favorite chocolate chips. Let sit for a few minutes and then smooth with a spoon.
Can top with crushed nuts if desired. This makes it look a bit like bark on a tree with some moss or lichens(SP) If you like that look, go for it!
Chill in fridge until set and then break into jagged pieces. Keep refrigerated if not eating right away and if giving as gifts.
Footnote
I am currently living in Italy, making this candy for my Italian friends, British friends, neighbors, . Hope they like it too, it's hard to compete with all the wonderful sweets "dolce" they have here.

This candy is a wonderful gift at Christmas time -place it in a decorative box, lined with parchment and wrap in clear cellophane. Tie with a pretty bow.
