Melt together and set aside:
2 c. boiling water
1 c. Crisco shortening
2 c. bran

Beat together:
3 c. sugar
4 eggs

Mix following in a bag:
5 c. flour
5 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
4 c. bran flakes


1 quart buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Add egg mixture to 1st mixture and mix well.
Alternately add dry ingredients to batter with 1 quart buttermilk.

Can be stored in the refrigerator up to 6 weeks. Bake as needed at 350º for 25 minutes.
