1/2 cup margarine or butter
2 cups sifted flour
2 eggs
1 1/3 cups sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 cup mashed bananas
1/4 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cups chopped walnuts
Frosting
1/2 sour cream
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup broken walnuts
1 banana, sliced

Directions:
Directions:
Soften butter and sift in dry ingredients. Add bananas, milk and vanilla and mix until flour is dampened. Beat vigorously 2 minutes. Add eggs and beat 2 minutes longer, stir in chopped nuts. Bake in greased and floured 9 inch cake pans at 325 degrees for 30-50 minutes or until done.
Mix sour cream and brown sugar. Place one layer of cake on metal serving plate, add sliced banana, 1/2 the nuts and spread with 1/2 the frosting. Return to oven and bake 2 minutes. At top layer, spread with remaining frosting and nuts (do not spread on side of cake, just the top) and return to oven for 2 minutes longer. Let cool.
