28 Kraft caramels (or 20 Eagle Brand)
1/4 c. water
1/4 c. butter
2 eggs, beaten
3/4 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 c. pecan halves
1 unbaked pie shell

In a small saucepan, on low heat, melt caramels with water and butter until smooth. Remove from heat. Slowly, to temper, pour a small amount of caramel mixture over eggs; stir, add another small amount; stirring and adding small amounts until all of caramel mixture is used and mixed well. Add sugar, salt and vanilla; blend well. Stir in pecans. Pour into unbaked pie shell. Bake at 350 for 45-50 minutes, or until set. Cover edges of crust during last 20 minutes of baking to prevent over browning.
