1 lb. ground beef
2 hot Italian sausages, sliced (or any kind you prefer)
2 cloves garlic, chopped
2 onions, chopped
1 (1 lb. 12 oz.) can Italian plum tomatoes
1 (16 oz.) can tomato paste
1/4 cup chopped parsley
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. each: sugar, oregano, anise
3/4 lb. lasagna noodles
1 lb. Ricotta cheese
1 cup raisins
1/2 lb. Mozzarella cheese, sliced
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Heat oil in a Dutch oven or heavy saucepan. Lightly brown beef, sausages, garlic and onions. Drain off excess fat. Add next 9 ingredients; bring to boil. Cover; simmer for 30 minutes. Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions; drain. Mix together ricotta cheese and raisins. Alternate layers of noodles, sauce, Ricotta mixture, Mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses; ending with cheeses in 13x9x2 inch baking pan. Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes. Let stand for 30 minutes before serving. Cut into squares. Yields: 8 servings. You can vary some ingredients in this recipe a little, if desired.
