1/2 lb. butter, softened (2 sticks)
1 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2 1/2 c. Old fashioned rolled oats (not quick cooking oats)
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. walnuts, chopped (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
In a mixing bowl, beat together butter, brown sugar, and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add eggs and mix thoroughly. Add remaining ingredients and mix on low speed until blended.

Drop dough by spoon onto a greased baking sheet leaving 1 1/2 inches between cookies. Bake 10-13 minutes at 350º. Cookies will seem soft, but will harden as they cool.
