7 1/2 lbs cucumbers - sliced
2 cups hydrated lime
2 gal water

2 quarts white vinegar
9 cups sugar
1 tsp celery seed
1 tsp whole cloves
1 tsp pickling spices

Directions:
Directions:
Soak cumcumbers, lime, and water in a big crock for 24 hours.

Rinse cucumbers. Cover with water and soak for 3 hours. Drain.
Cover with 2 qts vinegar (white), the sugar,celery seed, cloves and pickling spices.

Soak overnight. Boil the next morning for 40 minutes. Pack in jars and seal. Green cake coloring can be used during the boiling process to make a prettier green.

Makes 8 quarts.
