Personal
Notes: When I was a little girl, I was very close to my Grandma Dobrovolny. I couldn't begin to guess how many hours I spent with her each day, but I was blessed to live just a couple hundred yards down the road from her. My mom always laughed because if I ran away from home, I always turned left instead of right at the road, and went straight to Grandma's house.
My very first memory of cooking was with her. I couldn't guess how old I was, 5 or 6 maybe. I told her I had made up a new recipe, and then proceeded to feed her a line of baloney, to which she only smiled and said, "sounds yummy" and then helped me mix it all together. It involved eggs. I think it was scrambled eggs. And I don't think they were cooked as I hadn't figured that part out yet. And we didn't eat them. But I always remember Grandma's willingness to let me play at cooking, and go along with me. Maybe it was that unconditional acceptance that was mirrored in that cooking experience that made me want to cook my whole life. Either way, I love to cook, and my family loves to eat, so it all works out in the end!
Maybe this recipe is what I was starting all those years ago? Because Tim and the kids are such breakfast people, I am always trying to find something new to change things up. The other day I saw a picture and it made me think that I should alter already favorite recipes to try to improve upon them. So, I made this concoction, not sure how they would react, and it was a hit!
