Shuck corn removing the silk (this is a good job for any kids who are around). Place corn in large corn or lobster pot (largest pot you have). Add water to almost but not totally cover. Bring to a boil over high heat, turn off and let steam (without removing cover) for 10 to 15 minutes. Corn should be sweet and crisp-tender. Optional: serve with a stick of butter on a small plate, roll the hot cooked corn on it.

Corn is best freshly picked. Buy from a farmstand if you can and cook it the same day.
