1 Qt. green beans (we use more like 1.5 Qts per recipe of sauce)
1 - 5 oz. can sliced water chestnuts, drained (we chop them a bit)
1/2 C finely chopped onions
2 TBSP butter
1 C dairy sour cream
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp seasoning salt
1 tsp vinegar
dash pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Boil green beans (10 minutes if home canned). Add water chestnuts, heat through. Meanwhile, cook onion in butter til tender but not brown. Stir in sour cream, sugar, seasoning salt, vinegar and pepper. Heat through but do NOT boil.
Drain green beas; add sauce and mix.

This was definitely a favorite of mom's (and the rest of us!). We always had (and have) it for Thanksgiving dinner and in later years had to make 4 recipes of it so we had plenty for leftovers.
