Ingredients:
Ingredients:
Cake
1 Box Duncan Hines Butter Golden Cake Mix
3 large eggs
1/2 cup water
1 stick of butter, softened
1 tbsp. butter, nut & vanilla flavoring

Frosting
1 1 lb. box of powdered sugar
1 stick of butter, softened
1 8 oz. package of cream cheese, softened
2 tbsp. of butter, nut & vanilla flavoring
1 cup of chopped pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 350º. Spray Pam into 3, 8" round cake pans and lightly dust with flour (shake off excess flour). Blend cake mix, water, softened butter, eggs and butter, vanilla & nut flavoring in a large mixing bowl at low speed until moistened. Then continue to beat at medium speed for about 3-4 minutes. Pour batter into the 3 pans and bake for about 22 minutes or so. Cake is done when toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Let sit for about a minute, flip cake pans over and dump the cakes onto cooling racks. Once the cakes have cooled (at least 30 minutes or more) they are ready to frost.
For the frosting: Mix the powdered sugar, butter, cream cheese and vanilla, butter & nut flavoring on high speed until soft and creamy. Then put the pecans in and mix them in. Frost all 3 layers and all around the sides of the cake.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
This cake is a family favorite! My first one was not so good. Peggy gave me the recipe to make for Eddie's birthday. We went to the Moreman's for supper to celebrate Mark's birthday too. Everyone was so nice as they ate my rock candy cake! Peggy forgot to tell me to put a stick of butter in the frosting and it was as hard as a rock! I don't even know how I frosted the cake! I called Peggy and we fixed the problem. From then on Butternut cake, with creamy frosting, was served for everyone's birthday (except mine, I'm a chocolate girl!).
