Ingredients: For Cookies: 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter (room temperature) 1 cup Sugar 1 Egg 1 tsp. Vanilla 1/2 Sour Cream 3 cups Flour 1/2 tsp. Salt 1 tsp. Soda 1/2 tsp. Nutmeg
For Frosting: 1 stick Unsalted Butter (room temperature) 1 package Neufchatel Cream Cheese (also called 1/3 less Cream Cheese) 1 tsp. Vanilla 3 cups Powdered Sugar 1 tsp. Lemon or orange Zest Food Coloring (optional)

Directions: |
Directions:To make cookies, cream together butter and sugar until well combined. Add in egg, vanilla and sour cream and mix until fluffy.
In a separate bowl sift together flour, salt, soda and nutmeg. Add slowly to wet ingredients until just combined.
Roll out dough on floured surface but be careful not to let dough get too stiff or sticky. Cut out shapes and place on baking sheet.
Bake at 325º for 8-12 minutes (less time will make a softer cookie)
For Frosting: Cream together room temperature butter and cream cheese. Add vanilla and mix until well combined. Slowly add powdered sugar in 1 cup increments and beat until smooth. Add in zest and food coloring if desired. This frosting is also great on cupcakes! |
