1 lb. ground chuck or lean ground beef
1 can Cream of Mushroom soup
1 large onion, chopped
1 can sliced mushrooms, rinsed and drained (optional)*
1 T flour
1 C water
Gravy Master
salt and pepper to taste

* for a more sophisticated dish, substitute fresh mushrooms

Cooked Mashed potatoes, Rice or Noodles (enough for 6 portions)

Directions:

Brown meat, drain.
Add chopped onions (and mushrooms, if desired) and cook until slightly limp.
Turn down heat, add the flour, stirring until meat is coated.
Add the water, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
Add the soup slowly, stirring constantly.
Add Gravy Master until a rich brown color (start with 1 T).
Add salt and pepper to taste, simmer for 20 minutes.

Ladle over a bed of rice, noodles or mashed potatoes.

Simple, and a child-pleasing favorite (especially if you leave out the mushrooms!). For a quick and easy meal, use instant mashed potatoes or the pre made mashed potatoes in the refrigerator section.
