Rice Pudding Recipe

1/2 cup long grain white rice (NOT instant)
4 cups milk
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 - 1 cup sugar
1 tbsp vanilla
2 tsp cinnamon
3/4 cup raisins

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 300º
Generously butter large oven proof bowl.
Dissolve the cinnamon in the vanilla.
Heat milk until hot.
Mix all ingredients except raisins in the bowl.
Place in oven and stir every 20 minutes.
After 1 1/2 hours, add raisins.
Continue to stir every 20 minutes for an additional hour.
The rice pudding is done in approximately 3 hours when it appears cake-like with a well-browned top, but be prepared for overtime.
Best served warm with pouring cream.

This is a recipe from Jeffer's Grandma that was the first thing he ever baked when he was a kidlet. When Jeffer's Mom asked for this recipe long before Jeffer's was born, his Grandma told her she would never be able to make it because she didn't have the "special" cup.
