Personal Notes:
My mom worked so I stayed with my Granny. About the middle of the afternoon Granny would take the morning coffee and biscuits and make us what she called soakey. Since she did not have an electric stove but a wood powered one the coffee was usually warm and strong. She would break the biscuits in half and put it into the oven until the biscuit was almost burned. On special days she sprinkled sugar on it but most days no sugar depending on when they were able to get some sugar.
