3/4 c firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 c sugar
1/2 c margarine or butter, softened
1/2 c shortening
2 tsp vanilla
1 egg
1 3/4 c all purpose or unbleached flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
8 ounce vanilla-flavored candy coating, coarsely chopped
or 1 1/2 cups vanilla-milk chips
3 1/2 ounce jar macadamia nuts, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 375º. In large bowl, beat brown sugar, sugar, margarine and shortening until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and egg; blend well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Stir in flour, baking soda and salt; mix well.
Stir in candy coating and macadamia nuts. Drop dough by tablespoons 3 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 375º for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly golden brown. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets.
