3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sugar
10 oz cauliflower
8 oz broccoli
1 cup low sodium chicken broth
1/8 tsp white pepper
1 and 1/2 tbsp cornstarch, dissolved in 1/2 cup cold milk
1 tsp toasted sesame seeds (optional)

1. Bring a sauce pan of water to a boil. Add 1/2 tsp salt and 1/4 tsp sugar to the water. Add the cauliflower and broccoli and blanch until just cooked and still crisp, about 4 minutes. Drain well and rinse in cold water, drain again.

2. For the sauce, mix chicken broth, 1/4 tsp sugar, 1/4 tsp salt, and white pepper in a medium sauce pan; bring to a boil. Add cornstarch solution while stirring, and simmer until the sauce thickens. Return the vegetables to the sauce and heat through.

3. Arrange the florets in the center of the platter and sprinkle on sesame seeds.

Serve with hot rice and a meaty or tofu dish for a well balanced diet.
