1 pound bulk country sausage, hot or mild
6 slices day-old French bread, to fill casserole dish (variable according to size of loaf)
6 whole large eggs
1 1/2 cups Half-and-half, or whole milk
1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
1 teaspoon dry mustard
salt and black pepper to taste, about 1/2 teaspoon
2 cups shredded cheddar, Colby, or marble cheese

Assemble the night before, or as long prior to the meal as possible, and refrigerate.

Brown and crumble the sausage, and remove it to a bowl.

Grease a 13x8 casserole dish. Place the slices of French bread in it to cover the bottom of the dish.

Spread the crumbled sausage evenly over all the bread.

In the sausage bowl, whisk the eggs lightly. Add the half-and-half or milk, the dry mustard, the Worcestershire Sauce, and salt and pepper. Stir together. Fold in half of the shredded cheese, and pour the mixture evenly over the bread and sausage.

Top with the remaining cheese, and sprinkle paprika over the top. Cover tightly and refrigerate overnight, or as long as possible.

Bake at 375 degrees for 45-50 minutes, or until lightly browned on top.

Allow to rest 10 minutes prior to serving.
