Ingredients:
Ingredients:
7 apples, peeled and quartered
Lemon juice
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
Dash of cloves
2 T. butter

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 450º. Prepare pie crust. Rub some flour on the bottom of the first pie crust before fitting it into the bottom of the pie plate. Leave some crust hanging over the edge to put together with the top crust later.

Peel apples, cut into little chunks. Stir some lemon juice into the bowl of cut apples as you peel.

Dump apples into the pie plate that has the crust already in it. Sprinkle 3/4 to 1 c. of sugar over the apples depending on whether they are sweet apples or not. Sprinkle the spices over that. Dot with the 2 T. of butter. Lay second crust over the top, crimp around the edges, cut steam vents into the top crust (I use Grandma Welter's two wheat pattern), and sprinkle the top with a little sugar.

Bake for 15 min. at 450º, then turn heat down to 350º and bake for another 40 min., or until apples are soft. (I test this using a toothpick down through one of the steam vents.)

This pie will bubble over. Place a metal pan under it while it bakes!
