1 c shortening
1 c butter ( you must use real butter)
1 c white sugar
1 c powdered sugar
2 eggs
4 1/4 c flour
1 tsp salt
1/8 tsp cream of tartar
1 1/8 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
In a mixing bowl cream together until light shortening, butter, white sugar and powdered sugar. Add eggs and cream again. Add flour, salt, cream of tartar and baking soda. Mix well. Beat in vanilla. Make a ball the size of a walnut and spoon onto cookie sheet. Flatten cookie with with the bottom of a glass dipped in sugar. Bake at 350º for 14 minutes or until light brown. Cool slightly before taking off cookie sheet.
