1 lb. green dried split peas, rinsed
6 medium carrots, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
3 parsnips, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
4 celery stalks, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
2 garlic cloves finely chopped
1 -1/2 onion, chopped
1/2 tsp. dried thyme
1/2 liquid smoke sauce (optional)
You can add any type of cooked meat if desired
Salt & pepper to taste

Directions:
In a 5-6 qt. slow cooker, combine the dried split peas, carrots, parsnips, celery, garlic onion, thyme, liquid smoke and 6 cups water. Add meat if desired.

Cook on low in a slow cooker/crockpot for approximately 4 to 5 hours or until split peas are tender. Add salt & pepper to taste.
