Grandma Dolores' Chili Recipe

1 pound hamburger
1 pound pork sausage
1 onion, diced
salt and pepper to taste
2 large cans tomatoes (or sauce)
2 large cans water
2 cans kidney beans (juice and all)
garlic salt
onion salt
1 t. chili powder
celery, chopped (2 stalks)
green pepper, chopped (optional -- Mom doesn't use)
1/2 pound large macaroni (cook until firm, but not soft)
sour cream - for topping in individual serving bowl
shredded cheese - for topping in individual serving bowl

Brown and season hamburger, onions and celery with salt and pepper in large fry pan. (If adding green pepper -- brown with meat as well)

Add 2 large cans of tomatoes and 2 large cans water. Squish the tomatoes. Add 2 cans kidney beans -- juice and all. Season with garlic salt, onion salt, 1 t. chili powder.

Simmer in kettle for several hours. Just before serving add cooked large macaroni (firm, not soft).

May top with sour cream and shredded cheese when serving in bowls to guests.
