3 each large smoked ham hocks
3 cups water
2 pounds fresh butter beans
2 ablespoons butter
1 teaspoon sugar
1 cup okra, chopped
1 ablespoon salt
2 teaspoon freshly-ground black pepper

Method of Preparation
• Put ham hocks and water in a pot. Cover and heat until boiling. Reduce the heat to simmering, cover, and cook for 30 to 40 minutes.
• Wash the butter beans and add them to the stock pot. Heat to simmering.
• Stir in the remaining ingredients and simmer until the beans and okra are tender, about 25 minutes.
