1 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
2 cups brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
5 eggs
3 cups flour + tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 cup milk
1 cup nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and shortening, add brown sugar and white sugar.
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Add vanilla, flour and milk if adding nuts dredge with flour.
Bake 325º for 1 1/4 hours - maybe 1 1/2.
Also Maude noted it can be made with white sugar.
