1 C packed dark brown sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
8 T butter, softened
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/4 C buttermilk, or 1 tsp vinegar with enough sweet milk to make 1/4 cup liquid
1 1/4 C sifted all purpose flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 C quick cooking rolled oats
1/2 C raisins, chopped
3/4 C walnuts, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar, salt, and butter. Beat egg and vanilla into creamed mixture till light and fluffy. Add buttermilk. Stir together flour, soda and cinnamon. Add flour mixture and rolled oats, blend well. Stir raisins and nuts into batter. Drop from teaspoon onto cookie sheets. Bake in 400º oven 12-15 minutes or till light brown around edges. Cool 1 minute; remove to cooling rack. Cool thoroughly. Store in airtight container.
