1/2 C shortening
1/2 C granulated sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 C unbleached flour or all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
egg white
Colored sugar crystals
Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening; add sugar gradually. Beat in egg and vanilla. Sift together flour and baking powder; add to creamed mixture. Chill dough. Roll out 1/4 inch thick. Cut out with cookie cutters to desirable shapes. Brush with egg white and sprinkle with sugar crystals. Bake in 375º oven 15 minutes or till lightly browned.
