4 T butter
1/4 C shortening
2 C granulated sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
3/4 tsp. baking soda
3/4 C cocoa
1 3/4 C all purpose flour
3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp. salt
1 3/4 C milk

Directions:
Directions:
Grease and flour 2 9 inch cake pans. In large mixing bowl cream butter, shortening, sugar, and vanilla till light and fluffy; blend in eggs. Combine next 5 ingredients; add alternately with milk to batter. Beat well. Pour into prepared pans. Bake in 350º oven for 35 minutes or till cake tester inserted off center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans. Cool thoroughly. Meanwhile prepare frosting. Recipe under desserts (frosting)
