Directions:
Sift and measure 3 cups flour, add 2 T. sugar, 1 T. salt and 1/2 cup butter. Mix as for pie crust.

Crumble 2 yeast cakes, add 1/4 cup scalded milk, cooled. Add 2 T. sugar when foamy. Mix 3 beaten egg yolks with 1 cup half and half. Mix into yeast mixture. Mix well.

Add to flour mixture. Place in refrigerator overnight.

Next morning, divide dough into three equal parts. Divide each third in half -- total of six equal parts. Roll into long strips and braid two parts together for each ring. Let rise in warm place 2 hours until light (risen). Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes or until lightly browned.

While still warm, ice with confectioner's sugar icing and sprinkle with chopped nuts.

For confectioner's icing -- mix confectioner's sugar, vanilla and half and half to icing consistency.

Makes 3 butter rings.
