Sponge cake (or sponge fillers called Saviardi biscuits)
Tia Maria or any other liquor of your choice
3 liters of milk
600 milliliters of thickened cream
1 3/4 cups of sugar
2 cups of custard powder
1 tsp. vanilla for each batch of custard
350 grams of dark cooking chocolate

In a bowl, place half the custard powder and sugar and blend with some of the milk to make a smooth paste. Then add half of the milk and half of the cream, vanilla and whisk till well blended. Then place in a microwave and cook on high (750w) for about 5 minutes, take out and whisk, then place in for another 5 minutes and do the same. Next time put back in for 4 minutes and continue this process until custard is quite thick. Cover with plastic wrap to prevent a skin from forming. Repeat this for the chocolate custard adding the chocolate once you have whisked all ingredients.
Once you have the custard made, you then line the dish you want to serve the desert in (it has to be about 3 inches deep to get the layered effect) with sponge cake that has been sliced to about 1/3 to 1/2 inch thick. The wet it down with a pastry brush with milk and liquor to suit your taste. Cover with vanilla custard, then repeat the process and cover with chocolate custard. Do this so you have four layers, finishing off with chocolate. When cold, cover with fresh cream and strawberries and grated chocolate.
