2 cups sugar
1 pinch of salt
2 cups white corn syrup
1 1/2 cups evaporated milk or cream
1/2 cup butter
1 t. vanilla
chopped pecans or walnuts

Directions:
Boil sugar, salt and corn syrup until it reaches 245 degrees (use a candy thermometer), stirring occasionally.

Gradually add butter and cream so the mixture does not stop boiling.

Cook until firm ball stage (245 degrees), maybe should be 240. 245 made them harder. Stir constantly. This may take 15 to 20 minutes.

Remove from heat. Add vanilla and nuts. Cool somewhat; pour into a buttered 9 x 13 pan. When cool, cut with a buttered knife. Wrap in squares of waxed paper.
