1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup dark Karo syrup
1 T. ginger
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. baking soda
3 1/2 cup flour
1 cup chopped almonds

Directions:
Directions:
Work butter until creamy. Add sugar, syrup, spices, baking soda, almonds and flour. Turn onto floured baking board and knead until smooth. Shape into 2 thick rolls. Wrap each roll in waxpaper and chill. Cut rolls, after chilling, into thin slices with a sharp knife. Bake slices on a greased baking sheet in a very hot 450º oven for 8 - 10 minutes.
