1/4 cup sugar
5 cups self-rising flour
2 cups buttermilk
1/2 cup water
1 cup vegetable shortening, melted & cooled
1 teaspoon baking powder

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 450°.
Mix dry ingredients together.
Cut in wet ingredients and knead well.
Roll out on floured cutting board until about 1/2 inch thick.
Cut into circles and place on baking sheet.
Let rest 5 minutes before placing in oven.
Bake for 10 - 15 minutes or until golden brown.
Brush with butter after removing from oven.
