Directions:
Cut nuts, drench the dates with the cup of flour to make chopping them easier. Beat eggs and mix with sugar and salt. Stir dates, nuts and egg mixture together. It will be sticky and very thick.
Prepare tube pan or Bundt pan by greasing, then dusting with flour.
Use your hands to press the mixture into the pan.
Bake at 325º for about 40 minutes.
Cool and turn out. Soak cheese cloth with rum and wrap around the cake and store for a few days before cutting. If you don't have rum, cut an apple into slices and place them with the cake in your storage container.

Personal Notes:
This is a recipe I received from Linda Gail McCollum, she was our Father's cousin. Linda Gail received this recipe from her Mother, Shirley "Audrey" Waters Cannon. Linda Gail's Father was Woodrow "Wilson" Cannon, who was our Grandmother Clara's brother. Shirley "Audrey" Waters Cannon passed away in 2010.
