1 cup chopped onion
1 tsp grated fresh ginger
1 tbs oil
1 medium tomato - can omit if you don't have it
1 small can tomato paste or less if desired
1 tbs ground cumin
1/4 tsp turmeric
1/4 tsp cayenne or to taste- other hot pepper will do
2 cans cooked chick peas- well drained and rinsed
Fresh yogurt and parsley or coriander

Directions:
Saute onion and ginger, add spices then tomato, tomato paste. Simmer till softened, add chickpeas and a little water and simmer 20 minutes or more.
Serve lukewarm, can stir in about a cup of plain yogurt and some chopped fresh coriander before serving.
