2 cups chopped dates
1 cup strong hot coffee
1 tsp. baking soda
112 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp nutmeg
1/2 of a 27-ounce jar mincemeat.

Directions:
Directions:
Soak dates in hot coffee and baking soda until cool. Cream butter, sugar, and eggs. Add flour and baking powder. Stir in date mixture and remaining ingredients. Bake in large greased loaf pan for 1 hour at 350* or until done.
A double recipe makes 3 1 a-inch loaves. Makes great gifts!
