Makes 16 rolls

1 tbsp yeast
1/4 cup warm water
1 cup milk
1/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp salt
1 egg (well beaten)
3 1/2 cups sifted flour

Butter (2 tbsp or more)
Brown sugar (1/4 cup or more)
Cinnamon (2 tsp or more)

Icing:
2 cups confectioners' sugar
Milk
Dash of salt
1 tsp vanilla (optional)

Directions:
Soften yeast in warm water. Combine milk, shortening, sugar, salt; cool to lukewarm. Add softened yeast, egg. Gradually stir in flour to form soft dough. Beat vigorously; cover and let rise in warm place till double in bulk, about 2 hours. Done if finger print stays down.

Cut in half; roll out to 1/4 inch thick rectangle shape. Brush with butter, sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll as tight as possible. Cut in 2 inch sections. Push down in 9x13 pan. Let rise before baking. Bake 375º for 25 minutes (20 minutes for dark or glass pan).

Mix powdered sugar and milk together for icing, add enough milk until right consistency is reached. Add salt and vanilla (optional). Frost rolls.
