1 c. Raisins
1 ½ c. Water
1 ½ tsp. Baking Soda
1 ½ c. Brown Sugar
2/3 c. Shortening
2 Eggs
½ tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Baking Powder
3 ½ c. Flour
1 tsp. Vanilla
1 pkg. Chocolate Chips
1 c. Nuts, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Boil raisins in water for five minutes. Cool, and reserve ? C. of the liquid from the raisins. Add baking soda to this mixture and mix well.

In a bowl combine the brown sugar, shortening, eggs. Add the raisin liquid, and mix well.

In a separate bowl, combine the salt, baking powder, and flour. Add this mixture to the brown sugar mixture alternately with the raisins, chocolate chips and nuts.

Drop by spoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 350° for 15 minutes.
