nonstick cooking spray
5 1/2 ounces all purpose flour
4 ounces cake flour
1/2 ounce natural cocoa
1 t. baking soda
1/2 t. kosher salt
1 c. buttermilk - room temp
1 ounce red iquid food coloring
1 T. white vinegar
1 t. vanilla extract
10 1/2 oz. dark brown sugar
4 oz. unsalted butter - room temp.
2 whole eggs - room temp
cream cheese frosting (look under desserts)

preheat oven to 325º, spray 2 9-inch round pans with nontick spray. line the bottom of the pans with parchment paper, spray parchment paper with nonstick spray.

whisk flours, cocoa, baking soda and salt together. set aside

Whisk buttermilk, food coloring, vinegar and vanilla together, set aside

combine brown sugar and butter in the bowl of a stand mixer and cream on medium speed until lightened in color.

scrape sides of the bowl and slowly add eggs.

with mixer on low, slowly add slour mixture in 3 batches, alternating with buttermilk mixture. Begin and end with flour. mix on low speed.

devide batter evenly between 2 pans. bake for 30-35 minutes or until cake springs back when pressed.

cool in pans on rack for 10 minutes then remove from pans and cool for 1 hour.
