3 sticks margarine
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. white granulated sugar
3 eggs
2 tbsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3 1/2 c. flour
12 oz. chocolate chips
optional- 2/3 cup pecans

Preheat oven to 350º

Add margarine, brown sugar, white sugar, eggs & vanilla to large bowl. Blend ingredients until they are of a creamy texture. Then add the baking soda, baking powder, and salt and blend thoroughly. Begin adding flour in 1/4 cup increments until all of the flour has been added and thoroughly blended into the batter. Stir the nuts in next. Finally, fold the chocolate chips in manually to prevent breaking apart.
Drop tablespoons of batter on a cookie sheet approx 2 inches apart to prevent touching. It is recommended to do a test cookie to check consistency. Add flour if test cookie spreads too far and is too thin.
Bake until cookies begin turning a light brown color.
