2 cans whole Plum tomatoes, 28 ounces each
1 small onion, finely diced
2 cups Half and Half
3 fresh Basil leaves OR
1 teaspoon crushed Basil
1 1/2 tablespoons brown sugar
Salt and Pepper to taste
Garlic, optional

Directions:
Directions:
Saute the onions until translucent. Add the tomatoes, with juices basil, brown sugar, salt and pepper. Simmer until tomatoes are thoroughly cooked (about 20 minutes). Remove the basil leaves if you used fresh. Transfer everything to a blender and puree. Add in the milk and transfer it back to the stove. Heat, without boiling, and serve hot. This recipe multiplies easily. If it becomes to thick after being chilled, add more cream.
