1 package Devil’s Food Cake Mix
Cherry Whipped Cream
1 cup whipping creamed chilled
3 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar
½ teaspoon vanilla extra
2 drops red food coloring
¼ cup finely chopped maraschino cherries (well drained)
Glaze
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa
3 tablespoons butter
1 ½ tablespoons water
1 ½ tablespoons corn syrup
1 ½ cup confectioners’ sugar
¾ teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions:
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350F. Grease and flour two 8-in round cake pans.
2. Prepare, bake and cool cake following package directions for basic recipe.
3. For cherry whipped cream, combine whipping cream, 3 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar, ½ teaspoon vanilla extract, red food coloring in small bowl. Beat with electric mixer until stiff peaks form. Fold in chopped cherries. Reserve 2/3 cup. Place one cake layer on serving plate. Spread with remaining 1 2/3 cups of cherry whipped cream. Top with second layer. Refrigerate cake and reserve cherry whipped cream.
4. For glaze, combine cocoa, butter, water, and corn syrup in medium saucepan. Heat on low heat, stirring constantly, until butter is melted. Stir in 1 ½ cups confectioners’ sugar and ¾ teaspoon vanilla extract; stir until smooth. Pour hot glaze on top of cake.
5. To garnish, cut off top of small resealable plastic bag. Place large star decorating tip in the cut corner. Fill with reserved cherry whipped cream. Do not seal bag. Pipe rosettes on top of cake; garnish with cherries. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
