1/2 c butter
1 c brown sugar
2 envelopes of no-melt unsweetened chocolate
1 lg egg, beaten
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 c milk
2 c flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
CHOCOLATE FROSTING:
3 c powdered sugar,sifted
1/4 c light cream
1 tsp vanilla
1 envelope no melt unsweetened chocolate

Directions:

1 Sift dry ingredients (flour, baking soda, baking powder)together in medium bowl.
2 Cream together in mixing bowl butter and brown sugar. Add in chocolate, egg, vanilla.
3 Alternate adding dry ingredients with the milk. Drop by spoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake for 7-10 minutes (should be a soft cake like cookie). Cool.
4 Frosting: Mix together the powdered sugar, light cream, vanilla and chocolate. Frost cooled cookies.

These were my favorite cookies when I was a kid. I am sure you will like them too. The recipe calls for envelopes of no melt unsweetened cocoa. You can use the squares of baking chocolate but melt them.
