"A man who was fond of wine was offered some grapes at dessert after dinner. "Much obliged," said he, pushing the plate aside; "I am not accustomed to take my wine in pills."--Jean Antheleme Brillat-Savarin, The Physiology of Taste

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
16 oz box dates (i buy the already chopped and pitted, my mom prefers to buy the pitted ones and chop them herself)
6 oz chopped pecans
3 beaten eggs
1 c sugar
1 tsp salt
1 c flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
powdered sugar

Directions:
Directions:
1 Add the chopped dates and pecans to the beaten eggs, add the sugar, salt, baking powder. mix. then add the flour and mix well.
2 Put into a greased 9x13 pan. Bake at 275* for 1 hour. And yeah I mean 275, LOL, I give this recipe to people and they think that's a typo, it's not! :o) So, when they are done you cut them when they are warm into small squares and roll them into powdered sugar. They are very rich so you want them small. But sooo yummy...

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
This is my Mom's recipe. When she makes them they are gone almost before she's done rolling them in the powdered sugar. Even if you don't like dates, you should try them, they are sooo good you might be converted to liking dates after all!
