Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 pkg yeast
2 c. lukewarm water
1/2 tsp salt
1 egg
1/4 c. shortening (melted)
1/2 c. sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve the yeast in warm water in a larger mixing bowl (preferably glass bowl). Add sugar and salt, then add half of the flour (3 cups) and beat. Add egg and shortening, then beat again. Add the rest of the flour one cup at a time. When dough is well mixed, turn in greased bowl, cover with clean white cloth and let rise until doubled. Punch down the dough and shape into rolls by pinching off a small handful of dough and molding..place in a pan with some melted shortening. I usually put a little melted shortening on my hands to mold the rolls and roll them in the melted shortening when I place them in the pan. Cover and let rise again. Bake at 375º until tops are brown. Rub tops with butter just before removing from oven or after taking out of oven.

Personal Notes:
This is a family favorite. I used to make homemade rolls from my mama's recipe that took nearly all day long and then Corkey and I would have just rolls for supper but when the girls came along, I decided they needed real to make a meal.
