Salt, pepper, paprika, nutmeg

Directions:
Melt butter and stir in the gries. Continue stirring until it becomes a little browned. Add this to the boiling water and cook until thickened to a soup consistency (about 20 minutes). Remove from heat, cool slightly, and then add 2 beaten eggs. Beat the soup while adding the eggs. Cook 2 more minutes. Add seasonings (bullion, salt, pepper, paprika, and nutmeg to taste). Sausage or ham cubes could also be added if desired. This could also be made out of oatmeal (haferflocken).

Personal Notes:
This is a corrected recipe from the 1st edition. The only place I have ever heard about this soup was from our German neighbor, Hildegard Vogler. However, just recently I found another recipe for it in my Amana Colony recipes book.
