six apples, cored and peeled
1 c oatmeal
3/4 c flour
3/4 c brown sugar
1/2 c margarine or butter
1 tsp cinnamon (generous)

Directions:
Directions:
Prepare a deep dish pie pan or similar size pan by spraying with Pam or coating with a small amount of butter.
Slice the apples into the pan. (If desired, add 1 tsp lemon juice to apples, but I do not.) Mix other ingredients together and put on top of apples. Bake at 350º for 35 minutes. Serve (warm) with Cool Whip, vanilla ice cream, or cinnamon ice cream!
Variation: Some folks add 1 cup grated cheddar cheese on top of the apples before adding the flour mixture.

VARIATION: Add a 16 oz can of berried cranberry sauce over the apples. This is YUMMY! I have also used the crisp recipe with fresh peaches or apricots!! This is my go-to dessert and is always well-received, especially for winter holidays or for Fourth of July. It is quicker/easier than making pie crust!! The recipe suggests Granny Smith apples, but I use WHATEVER kind is available.
