1/2 Cup Shortening
1 1/2 Cups Sugar
3 Eggs, Separate out yolks
2 1/2 Cups Flour
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
1 Cup Milk
1 Cup Nuts, Chopped
1 Teaspoon Vanilla

1. Pre heat oven to 350'
2. In separate bowl, beat egg whites until still, set to the side

In a separate bowl:
3. Cream Shortening
4. Add Sugar Gradually and beat until fluffy
5. Add egg yolks and beat until well blended
6. Sift dry ingredients together
7. add dry ingredients alternating with milk vanilla, Beating well after each
addition
8. fold in Nuts and Stiffly beaten egg whites
9. Bake for 30 minutes, Cool and then ice
